It's been crazy. I haven't been able to post but I'm finally cracking down on getting a routine going and getting adjusted to my new hectic lifestyle. First I had freshman orientation, where I was busy for literally all day, waking up at 8 and not getting to bed until 11 or later. Then I had rush and my first week of classes and let me tell you, those two weekends of rush made me appreciate any free time I could get! We were up all day on our feet being interviewed by 3-4 people at each house, and there are 17 houses! I lost my voice, I was sick, and I was getting no sleep. But then bid day happened!! And I was officially a pledge of Alpha Omicron Pi, and so far it's one of the best decisions I've made. I am always surrounded by completely genuine girls who want to see you succeed and are always pushing you to be better. I love my sisters to death and I can't wait for all the great times we are going to have together!
So now here I am. Finally, things are dying down in the sense of no longer having every weekend booked and I finally get time to figure my routine out. Classes are getting harder and I need to focus on keeping myself healthy because I have been on and off sick since I've been here. I'm thinking it's the lack of sleep, good food, and losing my regular running routine. I try to run as much as I can but sometimes it's just too hard to wake up early before my 9:30 class after I stayed up until 1am doing homework the night before. Finding the balance between good sleep and making myself run is a challenge but with my new routine it will all be figured out.
Dining halls suck. Not gonna lie. Meals are already being repeated and it's hard to eat like I did at home where I could have my fresh fruits and veggies whenever I wanted. Fruit is something I miss most, it's so hard to find fresh fruit that isn't frozen or gross! And breakfast is always a challenge for me, as it was at home. But at least at home I had the ability to make whatever I wanted! So I've already gotten creative with my breakfasts and my favorite creation is a peanut butter and banana sandwich on toast!
Another favorite part of my school, is the crazy awesome farmers market we have on Thursdays. Local farmers and bakeries will come with fresh produce and baked goods and it's the best stuff here! Last week, me and my best friend Becca went and got fresh apples, ground cherries, cinnamon rolls, and some other goodies. The prices also aren't ridiculous, which as a poor college student, I appreciate!
Once I get into this routine, blogging will be a lot easier. I will be giving tips on how to stay healthy on a dining hall diet, what to make in the dining halls, and my journey through it all!
