Alright so I'm sick again. I was throwing up all day with no ability to keep anything down, except for a little bit of my favorite blue Gatorade. Thankfully, I was able to catch up on my Netflix so there's always a bright side!
All I could think about was all the food I wish I could have today. On all those long crazy nights at school my favorite dinner was salad in a jar. I grabbed my giant mason jar and tossed everything into it and then took it back out to eat. People really don't get salads in jars. "Why put it in there if you're just going to take it back out later? What's the point?" Well, all you unbelievers, it does have a point! But layering it strategically, it keeps your ingredients fresh and delicious for hours! I would have to make my dinner at 6am so I needed something like this.
The first trick is to put all your dressing on the bottom. In mine, I put olive oil, peach vinaigrette oil from Saratoga Olive Oil Co.,my favorite Jane's mixed up salt, and a few drops of liquid smoke.
Then you put the veggies that won't get soggy- think green beans, onions, tomatos, and beans.
After that, put your other chunky ingredients! I had broccoli, olives, apples, and pomegranate seeds.
Finally, finish with your lettuce. I used arugula. This is so it creates a moisture barrier for your other ingredients. My apples didn't turn brown at all when I keep them in here!
