I've always loved passion tea, but I barely even knew what the fruit looked like. So when I saw Passionfruit at Whole Foods last weekend, I seized the opportunity and grabbed two. I had to look up how to eat them but it was well worth it!
When you buy a passion fruit, you want one that smells tropical, is a little wrinkly, and that if you shake you can't hear the seeds inside. You should wash the fruit well even though you won't eat the skin because when you cut the fruit in half, you can pull chemicals and germs through. Once you cut it in half, you approach it like a grapefruit, just scooping the fruit out and eating it! Don't eat the white meat on the inside of the skin, it's very tart and don't eat the skin either! Just the seeds and the juice inside.
Passion fruit has a very distinct taste. It's strong and acidic, but tropical and sweet. The seeds are a little crunchy, it's like a mini pomegranate! I really enjoyed this treat!
