Being on the other side of recruitment this year really opened my eyes to a lot of different things so I decided to share my tips for girls going through recruitment and recruiting.
Recruitment can also tear apart a girl's self esteem very quickly. It is very intimidating to walk into a house of upperclassmen who seem to be judging your every move. I know going through recruitment I was constantly comparing myself to others, was my makeup too little? Should I buy the trendy new sandals? What if they think my ponytail looks too casual? Everyone needs to stop this. You are going through this to find girls who like you for YOU. If your personality is vibing well, it won't matter if your dress came from Old Navy or Lily Pulitzer, what matters is on the inside.
And just remember to have fun with it! You get to meet a ton of new girls and try out every house to see if they could be your sisters forever. I look around my house today and I could not be happier at any other house. I know it's cheesy to say, but you need to trust the system. If you get cut from a house that you think is where you should end up, chances are it isn't. If you lose a rush crush final round to a different house, she didn't make the wrong choice, it just wasn't meant to be.
So for my final note: everything happens for a reason. If things don't work out the way you think they will, they weren't supposed to. God doesn't hand you things you can't handle, so put that smile on your face and have a good time and an open mind during recruitment because who knows where you'll end up.
